Seward County Gives - lunch on the lawn

Lunch on the Lawn, highlighting different organizations that are part of Seward County Gives this year, will be today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the lawn at the courthouse.

The Village of Utica celebrated the release of 14 new residential lots at a May 3 groundbreaking ceremony for Bronco Heights, a new subdivision planned across the 80F Spur, east of Centennial Public Schools, on the former site of the Utica Community Care Center.

Rachel Kuss was named the Seward High senior key May 6.

Rachel Kuss, a senior at Seward High, was named the 2024 Senior Key at Monday's honors night. The senior key is one of the highest honors given by the school.

TODAY - Seward County Gives

From 3-7 p.m. today, the Olde Glory Theater will serve shaved ice as a fundraiser, part of the Seward County Gives week.

TODAY - Blue River Cabin meeting

The Seward Blue River Historical District will host its first annual membership meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Seward VFW Club. The group's mission is to restore, preserve and share a part of Seward County's history.

TOMORROW - Women's Club meets

The GFWC Seward Woman’s Club Spring Luncheon Meeting will be Wednesday, May 8, at 12:30 p.m. at the Seward Memorial Library. The program will feature the student first-place winners in the GFWC NFWC State Literature Contest, along with reports from the recent State Convention that was held in Seward. For reservations, contact GFWC Seward Woman’s Club President Angela Belew at angelabelew@gmail.com. For those not able to join for the lunch, the meeting/student presentations will be at 1:30 p.m.

TOMORROW - Donuts in Milford

The Daylight Donuts trailer will be parked at the Milford Senior Center on Wednesday, May 8, from 7 – 10 a.m.

TOMORROW - Pulled pork on menu

The May fundraiser at the Milford Senior Center will be a pulled pork sandwich dinner Wednesday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is a fundraising event, as the Kiwanis Club of Milford is partnering with the elementary school to raise funds for an ADA/handicap accessible playground swing.

TOMORROW - G.I. Cup of Joe

A veterans coffee will be every Wednesday from 7:30 – 9:30-ish at the Spare Time Lounge in Seward.

SPORTS

CU to host GPAC championship

Concordia University will host the Great Plains Athletic Conference baseball championship tonight at Plum Creek Park. First pitch against Doane is set for 6 p.m. This is a one-game championship.
Both teams have secured a berth to the NAIA Opening Round, Concordia as the regular season champion. The GPAC Tournament champion will receive the second berth. If Concordia wins the GPAC Tournament, Doane (as co-champion) will receive the seco
nd GPAC berth to the NAIA Opening Round, which starts Monday, May 13.

District track starts today

Schools in Class B will send their track and field teams to districts today. Athletes will be vying for places at the state track meet May 15-16. Seward, Milford and Crete will compete at the B3 district at Norris, with field events starting at noon and running events at 3 p.m.
