The Cavaliers held the Eagles scoreless through three quarters and took home a 35-14 win in the season opener.

Bishop Neumann scored twice in the first quarter and three times in the second to force the running clock to start the third quarter.

MHS got on the board in the fourth quarter on a four-yard Tyce Lopez run. Gavin Piening scored the second touchdown from two yards out and then connected with Connor Adams for the two-point conversion.

The Eagles finished the game with 77 yards rushing led by Hunter Oborny who gained 28 on five carries. Lopez added 21 yards on 12 attempts.

Quarterback Connor Troyer completed four of nine passes for 41 yards and one interception.

On defense, Isaac Roth recorded four solo tackles and three assists, with Westin DeLong adding one solo stop and six assists.

The Eagles (0-1) will be on the road Friday, Sept. 1, at Fillmore Central in Geneva. The Panthers beat David City 27-0 in their opener.
