CMSgt Charles "Charlie" E. Hansen, of Friend, passed peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Dec. 22, 2022, at the age of 79, with the love of his life and wife of 57 years Judy by his side.

Charlie was born March 17, 1943, to Andrew Lars Hansen and Edith May (Gifford) Hansen in Friend. Charlie was the first born of six children. He was a strong, hard-working man who provided and cared deeply for his family. Charlie enjoyed talking to and seeing his friends, sharing stories, reminiscing and telling jokes. He was passionate about his job in the Nebraska Air National Guard, retiring after nearly 39 years. He tremendously enjoyed and was extremely knowledgeable about his sporting hobby, through which he met so many life-long friends. He was blessed with the ability to build and fix nearly anything, including creating and making parts he needed for various projects.

Charlie married Judy Tauriella on Oct. 24, 1965, and to this union, God blessed them with three children: Mark, Todd and Carmen. His greatest joy and loves in life were his wife and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He and Judy did everything together. He enjoyed her interests, and she enjoyed his … just being together. They also loved cruising in the Corvettes they had through the years. Charlie was a member of the Friend American Legion Ford Banka Post #183. He attended Milford Assembly of God, where he served on the board and as a youth sponsor. He also attended Christ's Place Church, Lincoln, and Friend Christian Assembly.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife, Judy; children, Mark (SheriLynne) Hansen, Todd (Heather) Hansen, and Carmen Hansen (Nick Olin); grandchildren, Charlie Hansen, Elisabeth Hansen and Laurel Hansen, Mercedes Hansen and Maddie Hansen, Branden (Jacqui) Dyer, Andrew Hansen and Chase Dyer; and great-grandchildren, Franklin Dyer and Charlotte “Charlie” Dyer; brothers, Philip Hansen, Norman (Jeanne) Hansen, and David (Marilyn) Hansen; sister, Andrea (David) Hoffart; sister-in-law, Nancy Tauriella Ruhl; brother-in-law, John (Jeretta) Tauriella, and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Edith Hansen; sister, Clara Elizabeth Ramirez Lemon; aunt, Daisy Hansen; brother-in-law, Larry Ruhl; parents-in-law, Frank and Marjorie (Speake Lewellen) Tauriella; and close friend, James R. Taylor.
