A wild game, full of twists and turns, saw the Milford softball team down Aquinas 25-20 Oct. 5 in its first game of the Subdistrict C5 tournament.

The win put the Eagles in the final against Malcolm, but the Clippers prevailed 14-5, ending Milford’s season with a 9-12 record.

More information about subdistricts will be in next week’s Times.

Regular season ends

Milford had just two games to plan in the final week of the regular season, and the Eagles split them.

Milford lost to Fillmore Central/Exeter-Milligan/Friend 15-6 Sept. 29 but came back and beat Blue River 9-0 Oct. 1.

Milford gave up 10 runs in the first two innings against FCEMF but kept fighting, Coach Tom McCall said.

“We had 10 hits but we gave up 15,” he said.

Abby Houk, Kelly Bousquet and Maddy Cosaert had two hits each. Mariah Richards hit a home run, as well, and that was good to see, McCall said.

“We hit the ball hard,” he said.

The bats were hot against Blue River, with Milford recording 11 hits. Houk, Richards and Kaitlyn Klug all hit home runs. Klug drove in three, and Houk and Camille Stauffer drove in two each.

“It was a much different night, a much different feel,” McCall said. “It was a nice way to finish the regular season.”
