Eleanore (Rolfsmeyer) Ficke died peacefully at home in Alameda, California, on March 4, 2023.

Eleanore was born on the family farm in Milford to Gerald and Elsie Rolfsmeyer on Nov. 30, 1937, the first of five children. She married her high school sweetheart, John Ficke, on July 29, 1956. Shortly after, she graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan. She earned a Masters in Library Sciences from the University of Denver and a Masters in Education & Human Development from The George Washington University while raising her three children, Jeanne, John and Kathryn.

She worked in a variety of academic and research libraries and retired from Boeing in Woodland Hills, California. From her Nebraska roots, she lived in all United States mainland time zones. She visited all 50 United States and major capital cities throughout the world. She was a lifetime reader, traveler, crafter, writer, journaler, cross-country road tripper and camper.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John; her son, John Frederick; and her daughter-in-law, Michele. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanne Power and Kathryn Boyle; sons-in-law, John Power and John Boyle; grandchildren, Melanie, Derek, Evan, Cooper and Ace; and great-grandchildren, Declan, Ronan, Evelyn, Gavin, and Everett.
