Bluejay pride is soaring as students and staff welcome a new mural at Seward High School.
Concordia University Art Professor Seth Boggs of Seward created and donated the mural, which features a bluejay and the words “Let’s Fly,” as part of the school’s Bluejay Bash fundraiser.

The Seward Memorial Library will host “Just for Fun Fridays” every Friday from 1:30 – 3 p.m. starting Jan. 17. These program are designed for adults. First and third Fridays of the month are card games, with no experience necessary. On the second and fourth Fridays of the month, Bingo will be played.
The Seward VFW Post will offer a breakfast buffet the third Sunday of each month, serving from 8 to 11 a.m. Donations help support all of the group’s projects. The public is welcome.
A 13-week GriefShare support group will begin Jan. 18 in the Heritage Room at St. John Lutheran Church in Seward. The group will meet every Saturday from 9:30 – 11 a.m. through April 12. Cost of the workbook is $20; however, St John Stephen Ministry will pay half. This fee is for a detailed workbook to use at home and at the sessions. Visitation for JoAnne Adamek will be today, Jan. 17, from 1-7 p.m. at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home in Seward. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Graveside service and inurnment will be at a later date at the Ord Cemetery in Ord.
Visitation for Charles Cogswell will be Sunday, Jan. 19, from 2-8 p.m. at Lauber Funeral Home in Friend. The funeral service will be Monday, Jan. 20, at 10 a.m. at the Friend Congregational Church. Interment will follow at Andrew Cemetery.
