Gale Eugene Oswald was born on a farm south of Seward during a snowstorm on March 19, 1943, to Dale and Maxine ((Schweitzer) Oswald, the oldest of four children, and passed away Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2021, at Bryan East Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 78.

As a young boy, Gale attended a country school and Beaver Crossing Public School and later graduated from Milford High School. He accepted Christ and was baptized in his youth at West Fairview Mennonite Church. Gale was united in marriage to Janice Roth on Oct. 27, 1961. God blessed them with four children, Beth, Joan, Michelle and Jonathan and 60 years together. He loved the Lord Jesus. The greatest importance to him was service to God and obedience to the Truth of His unchanging Word; to love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul and others as yourself. He was ordained Deacon in August 1985, Bishop in 1993, retiring from the Bishop responsibility in 2008. He worshiped at Salem Country Church since 2018. Gale worked various jobs over his lifetime, retiring from the Seward County Roads Department in 2005. In his retirement, he enjoyed driving a delivery truck for Winfield Solutions in Seward. He enjoyed reading, traveling with his beloved wife Jan, time spent with children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his church family.
