Milford athletes added seven marks to the MHS Top 10 record board and set 28 new personal best marks at the Wilber-Clatonia Invitational March 28.

In addition, the girls’ team was the meet champion, scoring 116.5 points. The boys finished third behind Freeman and Wilber-Clatonia.

Lilly Kenning set a new school record in the 3,200-meter run, winning the race in 11:39.57 and breaking the previous record of 11:57.48, set by Ashley Kroese in 2018.

Kenning also won the 1,600-meter run in 5:20.56.

Gavin Dunlap swept the boys’ distance races, running a personal best 4:49.42 in the 1,600 and landing ninth on the all-time list. He finished the 3,200 in 10:27.98, which is sixth on the all-time chart, Coach Cody Gregory said.

The Milford girls’ 4x400-meter relay team of Tanya Miller, Kylie Jakub, Delaney Carraher and Kenning brought home gold in 4:26.98.

Sarah Spahr jumped to the top spot in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-1. Brooklyn McDonald was back in the medals, as well, after an ankle injury sidelined her last week.

MHS swept the top spots in the girls’ throws, as well. Addi Mowinkel won the shot put with a 33-4.5 throw, a personal best and 10th all-time. Camille Stauffer won the discus with a throw of 123-7, third all time and a personal best.

In the 400-meter dash, MHS girls placed second, fourth and fifth with Miller leading the way in 1:05.52. Her time is 10th on the school chart.

Ellison Piening won third in the 300-meter hurdles. She was also third in the long jump at 14-6.5.

In the boys’ competition, Gavin Piening picked up second place in the 110-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 16.95 seconds.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Isaac Roth ran his first 300 of the season and placed second in 44.12 seconds. Piening crossed the line in third.

Dane Kolb earned second in the triple jump with a jump of 39-4.5, a personal best that also improved his ninth-place mark on the school charts.

Hudson Mullet would have been second in the 800, Gregory said, but “some jostling ended up with him stepping to the inside of the track.”

In addition to Dunlap’s win in the 1,600, Avery Carter finished third and Kaleb Eickhoff was fourth. Carter also finished second in his first 3,200-meter run with a time of 10:41.28, which is ninth on the all-time chart, Gregory said.

The Eagles were scheduled to compete at Malcolm Wednesday, April 5 but the meet was canceled. Milford is next in action at home Tuesday, April 11, starting at 2 p.m.
