Leland James “Jim” Roth, born June 28, 1938, passed away Oct. 9, 2024, at the age of 86.
Jim was a proud graduate of Milford High, whose faith played a central role in his life. He was a member of Four-Square Church in Fairbury, and later, he continued his faith journey at Jansen Bible Church, always finding solace and strength in his spirituality.
Jim enjoyed all Husker sports and playing horseshoes. He never missed a day of reading the sports section of the Omaha World Herald and the Journal Star, keeping up with his favorite teams and players. Jim was also a talented cook, and he especially enjoyed preparing Sunday noon dinners for his family. His love for sweets was evident as he delighted his grandkids with fresh strawberries on ice cream, creating cherished memories.
Jim's fondest moments were the numerous family reunions over the years, filled with sports and card games. His dedication to his community was exemplified through his 58 years as a barber in Fairbury. His 1W voluntary service further highlighted his commitment to helping others.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Irene Roth; brother, Dick Roth; and his beloved wife, Twila J. Roth, with whom he shared many joyous years. Jim leaves behind a lasting legacy. He is survived by two brothers, LeRoy Roth and Terry Roth; and two sisters, Janice Oswald and Verlyn Dunlap; his children, Todd Roth and Trudy Fritz (Moyle), along with his two grandchildren, Trey Fritz (Malinda) and Kohlman Fritz, will forever remember his love, wisdom and warmth.
Jim’s life was a testament to faith, family and community. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on through the many lives he touched.
