Letter to the editor: Reelect Mary Harding

Posted

Mary Harding is running for reelection to the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) Board of Directors and she deserves
your vote. In these uncertain times, Mary is someone you can count on to look out for you and your family. She has years of
experience in public office and has fought to keep the rate you pay for electricity as low as possible.

Mary believes that public power exists to nurture the communities it serves and that economic development in rural areas
like Seward County is essential to the future of our state. To create good jobs that pay well, Mary knows we must embrace the
technology that attracts new business to our areas. However, in doing so, our choice is not between affordable, reliable power
or modern, clean technology. Mary believes Nebraskans deserve both and can have them with thoughtful and responsible
planning.

Mary’s experience includes nearly 13 years managing a multi-million-dollar budget for the state of Nebraska’s
Environmental Trust, 6 years as a director at South East Community College and 17 years on the Board of NPPD. She is also a
member of the American Public Power Association’s Policy Maker Council and she has advocated with Nebraska’s
representatives at the national level regarding what it takes to keep the lights on in an affordable and reliable manner.

I have confidence in Mary’s ability and integrity because I have known her for years and can state without doubt that she is
an honest and capable public servant. She understands and protects the rules that protect the public interest. She believes in
strictly adhering to the Open Meetings Act and has fought to have NPPD meetings live-cast on the internet so people all over
the state can see what they do.

Let’s return Mary to the NPPD Board!
