Milford students participate in Omaha Fashion Week

Two Milford High School students got to show off their designs and walk down the runway at Omaha Fashion Week on Feb. 22.

OFW is the midwest’s largest fashion show where designers model their product lines. OFW is filled with buyers to then stock their stores with their designs. They have a student night where students get to model their designs. The night is also filled with industry professionals and scholarship opportunities for students.

Maizie Kolb and Addison Sample applied in November to have their outfits selected for the student night of Omaha Fashion Week and found out in December they were selected.

“Leading up to February, they finished the final touches on their outfits,” Mallory Gregory, family and consumer science teacher at Milford High School, said. “The day of the event, they had professional hair and make-up completed to support the look of their outfit since they both chose to model their own outfits.”

During the student night, Kolb and Sample represented the FCCLA’s top designers.

“They were amazing,” Gregory said. “FCCLA is a part of this night because it is the career and technical student organization that aligns with family and consumer sciences which provides classes to support the fashion design and textiles career pathway. Both Addison and Maizie completed the entry-level course and are currently in the intermediate-level course of this pathway in Milford High School’s FCS program.”
