Milford wins two on court

Milford volleyball split a triangular with Malcolm and David City Sept. 14 and competed at the Fillmore Central Invitational Sept. 18, going 1-2 on the day.

Milford went to Malcolm and beat David City 25-19, 20-25, 25-23 before falling to Malcolm 25-12, 25-22.

Sarah Spahr recorded 12 kills against the Scouts to go with three ace serves. Caitlyn Adams finished with 23 assists and nine digs.

Adams, Marissa Walker and Tennacee Crumrine had two kills each to lead Milford against Malcolm in the second match.

Milford opened tournament play Saturday with a 26-24, 25-21 loss to Sutton. Savannah Spahr and Celia Bontrager had three kills each for the Eagles. Avery Saltzman picked up nine digs.

Milford beat Fillmore Central 25-14, 25-18 behind five kills by Taylor Roth. MHS served five aces from five servers in the match.

Hastings St. Cecilia didn’t let the Eagles have any aces in a 25-19, 25-16 HSC win. Sarah Spahr notched five kills and Savannah Spahr four in the match.

Milford (8-7) was to play at Raymond Central Sept. 21 and at Thayer Central Thursday, Sept. 28. The team is next in action at home Tuesday, Sept. 26, against Sandy Creek.
