Delayed federal funds leave sheriff’s salary fund short

The Seward County Board of Commissioners and the sheriff were left in a sticky budget situation June 17 as they grappled with an unusual and fast-approaching financial situation, delaying action until June 24 after considerable discussion.

July 4 home decorating contest judging is June 29

The annual Seward July 4 Outdoor Home Decorating contest is scheduled Sunday. June 29, at 7 p.m. The committee will meet at 7 p.m. on the front porch of the Seward Civic Center and coordinate the judging. There are two major divisions – Outdoor/Daytime Contest and Outdoor/Lighted Homes – plus many honorable mentions.

TODAY - Tabitha offers Grief Support Group online

Tabitha offers a grief support group online, helpful for many people processing a loss. Unique Dynamics of Grief is a new monthly online support group for those facing the unique challenges of being a younger griever. Members of this group will meet the fourth Monday of each month from 7 to 8 p.m. To enroll in a grief group, contact a bereavement coordinator. TOMORROW - Digital workshop

A free Digital Literacy Workshop will be Tuesday, June 24, from 2 – 3:15 p.m. at Seward’s new Digital Empowerment Center at 510 Bradford St., Suite C. The subject matter includes exploring beginner-friendly AI tools to simplify tasks, boost creativity and stay organized. Participants are encouraged to bring their own digital devices.
