Nebraska State Trooper injured in accident near Dorchester

A Nebraska State Trooper sustained injuries in a vehicle collision near Dorchester this morning when the trooper's Ford F-250 patrol vehicle was struck by another driver.

The trooper, who was not identified, was patrolling on Highway 15. At approximately 6:50 a.m. a Dodge Ram 1500 crossed the center line and struck the front, driver's side of the trooper's vehicle. Both drivers were injured.

Saline County Sheriff's Deputies responded and rescue units were called on scene. The trooper exited his vehicle and began providing care to the other driver before responding deputies arrived on scene.

Both were taken to Crete Area Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The trooper, who was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident, was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital as of Wednesday afternoon.

Saline County Sheriff's Office will conduct the crash investigation, per request from Nebraska State Patrol.
