Rodger Lyle Henke, of Beaver Crossing, died Thursday, April 27, 2023, at the Sunrise Country Manor, rural Milford, at the age of 79 years.

Rodger was born Dec. 31, 1943, in Lincoln, to Lyle O. and Lorayne E. (Pierce) Henke. On April 13, 1991, Rodger married Sharry (Vegas) in rural Milford. Rodger had worked for the local telephone company as a repair serviceman for many years. Rodger was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Beaver Crossing, Thornridge Golf Course, and Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church.

Rodger enjoyed golfing, going to the casinos, fishing, camping and all sports in general. He also enjoyed watching good old western movies. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking and building many crafting work items. Rodger enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sharry Henke of Beaver Crossing; children, Shawn and husband Eric Kellogg of Littleton, Colorado, Shani Jones of Denver, Colorado, Dianna Henke of Lincoln, Jody Brauer of Lincoln, Shawna Henke of Thornton, Colorado; two step-children, Todd Vegas of Milford, and Kellie Hill of Jerseyville, Illinois; 17 grandchildren, Chaise Vegas (Jill), Brittiny Vegas-Gengenbach (Adam), Lexi Anderzhon (Kurt), Trey Geiger, Shayne Hill, Taylor Hill (Erica), Dillon Hill, Sheridan Rulo (Stephen), Hillary Jones (Robbie), T.J. Jones, Juli Jones, Ethan Kellogg (Teresa), Evan Kellogg (Ashley), Jill Kellogg, Lee James (Caitlin), Jennifer James, and R.J. Brauer; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kevin and wife Yvonne Henke of Lexington, Kentucky, and Dwight and wife Diane Henke of Beaver Crossing. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Rodger is preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Ryan Scott Adam- Chapman.

The funeral service was May 2 at the Beaver Crossing Methodist Church with interment at the Beaver Crossing Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Beaver Crossing Fire and Rescue, the Beaver Crossing United Methodist Church or the Sons of American Legion.
