Samuel “Sam” Bert Schluckebier was born March 31, 1952, in Seward, and baptized in April of 1952 in Goehner.

He attended Seward High School and graduated in 1970.  He was united in marriage to Beverly Soflin on Aug. 26, 1972, in Goehner.  From this union, Sam and Bev had four children; Jason, Joe, Sam and Kerry.

Sam was a farmer for most of his life, and later worked in construction and finally a fulfilling career at Duncan Aviation where he retired in 2019. He loved working with his hands, creating things for other people, whether it was growing crops to feed the world or carving wooden treasures with his grandchildren that he adored. Sam was a true inventor, builder and fixer of all things, and loved teaching and passing along these skills to his kids and grandkids.

He was a dog lover, and his many hobbies included gardening, golfing, trips to the national parks and watching his grandkids in various sports and activities, all of which he enjoyed with his loving wife. His wife of almost 52 years was his high school sweetheart and the love of his life. The family they created was truly his life’s greatest work, and he was very proud of the love they all share.

Sam passed away June 12, 2024, on his farm in Seward.  He is survived by his wife, Beverly Schluckebier; children, Jason (Kristy) Schluckebier of Lincoln, Joe (Trisha) Schluckebier of Milford, Sam (Vicki) Schluckebier of Seward, and Kerry Stalsberg of Seward; grandchildren, Brianne (Charlie), Peyton (Taylor), Logan (Eva), Tanner, Colby, Konner, Vanessah, Everhett, Barrett, Adalyn, Oliver, Brecken, Finnley, Vivian, Ivy, Elsie, and Genevieve; great-grandchildren, Halsey and Kollyns; a host of siblings, in laws, nieces and nephews.

Sam was preceded in death by parents, George and Delight (Dierberger) Schluckebier; mother-in-law, Doris Bogert; and daughter-in-law, Ginni Schluckebier.

A memorial service will be Wednesday, June 19, at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Evangelical Free Church in Seward. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Schluckebier Family for future designations. Arrangements by Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home.
