Southeast Community College recently announced its new five-year strategic plan that is scheduled to guide the school through the end of the 2023-24 academic year.

The new plan, titled Paving The Path To Possible, was scheduled to be fully revealed to the public during the week-long Strategic Planning Week from Oct. 26-30, but was also made available online on Oct. 20.

President Dr. Paul Illich said the plan has nine goal areas with 60 objectives to help the school make progress in key initiatives.

“The week will start with an overall update of the college's key initiatives as well as the progress made on its completed 2015-19 Strategic Plan,” Illich said. “Throughout the week, members of the SCC Administrative Team will discuss the goals and objectives of the 2020-24 Strategic Plan that are associated with their respective areas of responsibility.”

Those nine goals goals are: enrollment growth, student success, communication and public awareness, programming and development, employee excellence, strategic partnerships, educational environment, financial strength, organizational climate and faculty and staff excellence.

Illich said the goal of faculty and staff excellence will continue to focus on promoting learning and organizational environments through positivity, reflective thinking, respect of diverse ideas and views, transparent communication and compassion.

That's in addition to the identified value targets of excellence, integrity, innovation, inclusion and stewardship and accountability.

“The new vision statement clearly articulates the college's commitment to investing in all aspects of its operations to become a national leader in high-contact technical and academic experiences through personal and sincere relationships with engaged and invested faculty, staff and administrators,” Illich said in a statement. “SCC's vision also includes a focus on creating destinations and the highest quality learning climates through permanent, innovative, modern, virtually-linked, sustainable and collaborative facilities and green spaces.”
