Twenty years going strong

Milford Friends of the Senior Center celebrates 20th anniversary

Posted

The Milford Senior Center was established in 1991. Organizers realized it was the activities and social time along with meals and transportation that help keep people in their homes.

In 2002, a group of interested members of the community wanted to get involved in the continuation of the senior center by forming a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for people to make a gift or to designate donations to the Milford Friends of the Senior Center.

This would be a way to carry on the tradition of the Milford Senior Center, which could eventually benefit themselves, their friends or loved ones.

The articles of incorporation were filed with the Nebraska Secretary of State on May 29, 2002.

The initial board of directors were George Seeley, Susan Trabert, Ann Hall and Warren Spellman. A special meeting of the directors was conducted Sept. 4, 2002. Bob Ficke came on as treasurer. George Seeley resigned as president after moving out of state.

Susan Trabert agreed to be president, and Warren Spellman then came on board.

With the incorporation of Milford Friends of the Senior Center, an entity now exists for the expressed purpose of providing stewardship for gifts, donations and memorials for the intended purpose of being used for the benefit of the Milford Senior Center.
