Two medal for Milford at home invitational

Coach Travis Yeackley was impressed with how the Milford golf team played at its home invitational April 12.

The Eagles finished with two medal winners and in fourth place.

“Wednesday morning we set goals, and everyone about hit them,” he said.

Kellen Kubicek led MHS with a 41-44 85 and placed fourth. Chase Nitzsche shot a 43-45 88 to finish 10th.

“They were still complaining that there were a couple places they could improve,” Yeackley said.

Yeackley didn’t know what to expect with Kubicek, a first-year golfer.

“He’s consistently doing his thing and it’s paying off,” the coach said.

As the weather gets nicer, Yeackley said he’s seeing progress from the golfers.

“The improvements are getting there,” he said.

MHS was to dual Southern at the Wymore Country Club April 18. The Eagles will be at Fairbury Thursday, April 20, for a tournament.

Yeackley said the Wymore Country Club sets up well for the Milford golf team because it’s similar to Thornridge in Milford. He has not played the Fairbury Country Club but said it is a long, tight course.
