Nebraskans made their voices heard this November on various ballot measures — medical cannabis, paid sick leave, abortion and school choice — and most of the measures are set to take effect in December.

Teens detained in assault

The Milford Police Department is investigating an incident in which three teens allegedly convinced a sex predator to come to a home in Milford where he was assaulted. The teens are facing charges of assault, terroristic threats and false imprisonment.

NSP arrests man after pursuit

Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a Lincoln man following a multi-county pursuit.
The incident occurred late Monday evening, Dec. 2, when a trooper saw a Buick sedan driven by Jesse Stinson, 27, of Lincoln, run a red light at the intersection of NW 20th and West O Street in Lincoln.

The winter sports seasons (basketball, wrestling and bowling) will open competition this week. The schedule is:

EVENTS

TODAY - Yoga in Utica

Chair yoga will be offered Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:10 p.m. at the Utica Senior Center. There is no class the third Wednesday of the month.

TOMORROW - Free movie

A free movie is scheduled at the Seward Memorial Library on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m., featuring a 2024 American disaster film. Feel free to bring snacks and a drink. Visit sewardlibrary.org for more information.

TOMORROW - TOPS meets weekly

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) meets weekly on Thursdays at the Living Word Church, 1300 Hillcrest, south door. TOPS is a weight management support group. Weigh-in begins at 11:15 a.m. and the meetings are from noon to 12:30 p.m. The initial meeting is free.

Visitation for Linda Earnest will be today, Dec. 4, from 1-7 p.m. at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. A celebration of life will be tomorrow, Dec. 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home. Graveside service and inurnment will be at a later date.
