Breaking records was the theme of the weekend as archers from Milford and Crete capped off their season at a national competition in Salt Lake City, Utah, April 28-29, qualifying three for the world championships in June.

Twenty-three Milford archers competed in the National Archery in the Schools Program Western Nationals Bullseye and IBO 3D Challenge events, setting 20 personal records.

Additionally, eight archers competed in the Centershot Western National Bullseye Championship, and seven of those also competed in the Centershot Western national IBO Championship.

“Milford Archery had an amazing season, bringing home two state individual champions on the ladies’ side in both bullseye and 3D, along with numerous other personal awards, and a total of five first-place trophies and a top-five finish at nationals,” Coach Jim Wissenburg said.

In the bullseye shoot, Sydney Havlat led the girls with a score of 284, and Autumn Wissenburg followed at 282.

In IBO 3D, Autumn Wissenburg shot 275, and Ayla Salistean shot 273.

Chris Wissenburg led the boys in the bullseye shoot with 277, and Jay Wissenburg followed with 274. In IBO 3D, Jay Wissenburg shot 274 and Chris Wissenburg scored 271.
