On Wednesday, May 21, Beck’s Hybrids celebrated its most recent expansion into Beaver Crossing. Representatives from Beck’s Hybrids and the Seward County Chamber and Development Partnership gathered at the new Goehner West Research Station for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.
Scott Beck, president of Beck’s Hybrids, was eager to meet the unique challenges of Nebraska farming. He said while some products in Beck’s lineup already work well here, the Indiana-based company had to adapt to the high winds Nebraska farmers deal with, even building a wind machine to test the durability of their products.
“Over the last five years we’ve selected products specifically for this western environment, and the need for really strong stalks,” Beck said. “We’re excited to add this facility to our growing research network.”
The new research station, acquired from BASF, sits just two miles west of another Beck’s facility. It comes with 400 acres of farm ground, providing valuable space for research teams to test new products.
