Administrative Reports Secondary Principal: Mr. Mowinkel discussed the Rachel’s Challenge presentation. He congratulated Ethan Zegers and Jeaven Scdoris on making the state wrestling tournament and the boy’s basketball team on winning the SNC tournament. He reported on activities currently taking place at the junior/senior high and pointed out upcoming activities. He shared that Shelly Mowinkel had an article published in the National Business Education Association’s quarterly magazine. Director of Learning: Dr. Kubicek discussed the 11th Grade ACT Assessment and the AQuESTT Accountability Framework. Superintendent: Mr. Winged shared a thank you note from the family of Bob Elwell. He discussed and gave an update on legislative items. He shared that he and another member were approached regarding baseball. He pointed out upcoming NASB trainings and future meetings. IV.B. Student Enrollment Report Preschool - 32 K-6 - 378 7-8 - 115 9-12 - 223 K-12 Total - 716 IV.C. Discuss 2017/18 Option Enrollment Requests Mr. Wingard included a list of the 2017/18 Option Enrollment Requests. IV.D. Discuss State Funding for Public Education Mr. Wingard included a report for discussion. IV.E. Discuss Planning Items for the 2017-18 School Year No discussion. V. Board Commentary Board members discussed the Legislature, NE Loves Public Schools t-shirts, and school funding. VI. Unfinished Business VI.A. Discuss/Act on 2017-18 Calendar Motion Passed: Motion to approve 2017-18 Master Calendar as presented. Passed with a motion by Jim Stahly and a second by Tony Roth. Set 2017 Driver's Education Fee Motion Passed: Motion to set the 2017 Driver’s Education fee at $215 for district resident students and approved option students and $250 for students that do not attend Milford Public Schools. Act on Staff Resignations Moved to Executive Session. Motion was made after returning to regular session. Executive Session Motion Passed: Motion to move into Executive Session for purposes of discussing Item VI.B. Track Replacement and Item VII.B. Staff Resignations. Executive Session is necessary for the protection of the public interest and the prevention of needless injury to the reputation of the individual or individuals because they have not requested a public hearing.
