The Milford volleyball team picked up four wins against one loss on the court last week, splitting a triangular Sept. 15, winning on the road Sept. 17 and sweeping two at home Sept. 19.
“We had a great week of growth within our program,” Coach Emily Restau said. “Our girls responded well to some differences in our lineup and to not a lot of practice time. I am proud of how our girls continue to fight throughout matches.”
The Eagles opened with a triangular at David City and beat the host Scouts 25-8, 25-16 but lost to Malcolm 22-25, 25-18, 25-23.
In the win over David City, Shayla Rautenberg recorded 11 of the team’s 19 kills and served five aces. Braelynn Muller added four ace serves and nine set assists.
Against Malcolm, Rautenberg notched 14 kills to lead the team. Muller and Ashlynn Miller had eight kills each.
Libbie Reil had a good match at the service line, serving five aces. Adi Upton and Muller delivered 16 set assists each, and Adalyn Cisneros and Rautenberg picked up eight digs apiece.
Milford was on the road at Superior Sept. 17 and beat the Wildcats 19-25, 25-14, 25-12, 25-13.
Rautenberg finished with 25 kills on 46 attempts. Miller added 11 and Muller 10 for Milford. Muller and Rautenberg each served four aces, and Upton put up 23 assists. Libbie Reil picked up 14 digs.
The Eagles hosted Ashland-Greenwood and Sutton Sept. 19 for a triangular. MHS beat AG 25-15, 25-12 in the opening match of the day. Rautenberg had 10 kills, and Upton had 11 assists, with Muller adding 10.
Milford beat Sutton 25-11, 25-20 in its second match. Rautenberg had 11 kills and four ace serves. Upton delivered 12 assists, and Cisneros picked up 12 digs.
The Eagles (11-3) are scheduled to host Raymond Central Sept. 22 and Columbus Lakeview Thursday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. The next match is Tuesday, Sept. 29, at home against Centennial starting at 7 p.m.
