The Milford volleyball team won all five of its matches last week to improve to 12-1 on the season.

The Eagles defeated David City 25-23, 25-27, 25-14 and Malcolm 25-16, 25-16 Sept. 16, then beat Superior 25-5, 25-13, 25-13 Sept. 18 and swept a home triangular Sept. 20, topping Palmyra 25-10, 25-16 and Ashland-Greenwood 25-22, 25-17.

“Tuesday was a big day for us - we did come out a bit sluggish, but worked together to turn things around and finished the night off very strong,” Coach Emily Restau said.

Shayla Rautenberg of Milford and Kamryn Behrns of David City went swing for swing all match. Both finished with 15 kills, but Rautenberg hit .303 to Behrns’s .190.

Kylie Jakub delivered 30 set assists.

Rautenberg had 15 more kills in the win over Malcolm, and Jakub posted 19 assists. Adalyn Cisneros served three aces.

The momentum continued into the match against Superior, Restau said.

Rautenberg recorded 16 kills, and Sydney Burkey added nine. Muller put up 22 assists. The team served 11 aces, led by three each from Braelynn Muller and Rautenberg.

“We took care of our side of the court in the first match on Saturday,” Restau said. “The second match saw us fighting back almost the entire first set, but these girls dug deep, played for each other, and finished the first set off. They continued this momentum in the second set as well.”

Sarah Reynolds notched seven kills and Burkey six to lead MHS against Palmyra. Muller served three aces.

Rautenberg put down 10 kills against Ashland-Greenwood, with Muller adding seven. Jakub had 21 assists, and Libbie Reil picked up nine digs.

Milford (12-1) was to play at Raymond Central Sept. 23 and host Lincoln Northwest Thursday, Sept. 25, starting at 7 p.m.
