April 23 was not a good day for the Milford golf team. The Eagles competed in the Lincoln Lutheran Invite at Crooked Creek and didn’t have the results they wanted.
“Everyone got off to a bad start to the day other than Zane (Jackson),” Coach Chaise Vegas said. “We had too many three-putts, struggled hitting our wedges that we worked hard on in practice all week and had way too many penalty strokes.”
On the bright side, Zephyr Mowinkel eagled the 18th hole to finish fifth with a 79.
“It was nice for Zephyr to finish like that and finally see a putt drop,” Vegas said.
Landon Roth shot an 86, Jackson and Trayton Nelson both 94 and Brodie Roth 95.
Vegas said this tournament gave each golfer something to work on and improve before the Palmyra Invite at Woodland Hills Wednesday, April 29.
“These kids care and will put in the extra time on the range and putting green to help their game,” he said.
The tournament is a three-person scramble format, so all the scores count.
The junior varsity also got some experience, playing at Fairbury April 24. Matyx Upton finished with a 98.
