Five incumbents filed for re-election to county, city, school board and village posts between Jan. 23 and 30.
Clerk of District Court Sheila Lueders filed for re-election on the county ballots.
Seward Airport Authority board members Erich Helge and Marvin Siefert have also put in bids for re-election.
Incumbent David Dickinson has filed for re-election to the Milford School Board.
Debra Frank is the first of the county’s village board candidates to file. She is seeking re-election to the Staplehurst Village Board.
Incumbents have until Feb. 17 to file their papers to seek re-election. Other candidates have until March 2.
So far, several positions are lacking any candidates and most candidates are running unopposed.
No candidates – incumbent or new – have yet filed for the positions of county assessor, county attorney, Seward City Council Ward 4, Milford City Council Ward 1, and Milford City Council Ward 2.
One incumbent has filed for re-election on the Milford School Board, where three seats are on the ballot this year. The situation is the same in Seward, where one incumbent has filed and three seats are on the ballot.
Candidates filing for county offices to as of Jan. 30 are:
Seward County Commissioner District 1: Incumbent Misty Ahmic
Seward County Commissioner District 3: Tyler Dickinson
Seward County Commissioner District 5: Incumbent Kenneth Schmieding.
Seward County Treasurer: Incumbent Jacob Zlatkovsky.
Seward County Clerk: Brandy Johnson, who was appointed to complete the term of longtime officeholder Sherry Schweitzer.
Seward County Clerk of the District Court: Incumbent Sheila Lueders.
Seward County Sheriff: Tim Huntington, Troy Schaefer and Trey Wayne.
County offices are elected by party and as of Jan. 16, all candidates filing are listed as Republicans.
City council and school board candidates run on a nonpartisan basis. Those filing for available seats so far are:
Seward Mayor: Incumbent Joshua Eickmeier
Seward City Council Ward 1: Incumbent Megan Kahler
Seward City Council Ward 2: Incumbent Tatum Tonniges
Seward City Council District 3: Incumbent Rich Wergin
Seward Airport Authority: Incumbents Erich Helge and Marvin Siefert
Centennial School Board: Incumbents Jason Richters, Derek Tomes, and Lana Hoffschneider
Milford School Board: Incumbents Dave Welsch and David Dickinson
Seward School Board: Incumbent Jill Hochstein
