Trevor Fehlhafer is bringing cars back to Utica.
Fehlhafer is organizing a car show for Aug. 1.
“We haven’t had one for about 10 years,” he said. “I wanted to bring something back.”
His interest in cars began his freshman year at Centennial High School when he bought his Corvette. He started taking the car to shows and meeting people. He goes to about 15 shows a year, including the Seward Fourth of July show, the Seward County Historical Society show and a show in Plymouth.
Fehlhafer got a list of classes from the car show in Greshman anad added a couple more. Classes range from Corvettes and Mustangs to semi trucks and motorcycles.
The top two in each class will receive custum-designed trophies, which will be built at Breeza in Utica. The first 50 entrants will receive dash plaques. The York Area Cruisers will be the judges for the show.
Fehlhafer is also planning food trucks at the show, which will be in the paved lot at Centennial High School. Among those planned to attend are Joe’s Lemonade, What’s the Scoop, Daylight Donuts and Slick’s Barbecue from Lincoln. A DJ will keep the tunes playing throughout the day, and a professional photographer will be available, as well.
He’s planning to do the trophy presentation in the air-conditioned lobby at Centennial.
He hopes to make this an annual event the first Saturday in August.
A percentage of the proceeds from the show will go to the Elf Society at Centennial. The society provides holiday meals and gifts for families in need. Free-will donations will also be accepted.
“I chose them because they’re not as well known,” Fehlhafer said.
Registration on Aug. 1 will be open from 9-11 a.m., with judging at noon and awards presented at 3 p.m. For more information, contact Fehlhafer via text at (402) 745-9192 or by email at trevorfehlhafer5@gmail.com. Information is also available on Fehlhafer’s Facebook page.
