Have’s Bar and Grill has become a destination dining spot, with some customers traveling nearly two hours to try its popular smash burger.
The restaurant’s name traces back to owner Ed Haverluck’s military service. While serving in the Army, his first sergeant struggled to pronounce “Haverluck” and instead called him “Have’s.” This nickname stuck.
After leaving the Army, Haverluck said he always knew he wanted to open a bar, and the name “Have’s” felt like a natural fit.
After living in Western for about a decade, Ed and Joey Haverluck opened Have’s Place together three and a half years ago.
Have’s Place makes a point of staying involved in the community while also recognizing military personnel and first responders.
“We have a memorial wall set up in the bar for people that are serving, have served, or are first responders,” said Haverluck “We recognize veterans and anybody that’s a first responder. It’s something I always wanted to do, because I know how I was treated back in the day, and I don’t feel veterans get enough recognition, or people that sacrifice time for the community”
The restaurant offers a full menu featuring traditional bar food throughout the day. After 5 p.m., customers can also choose from specialty entrees, including steaks, sirloins and chicken-fried steak. Staff members are able to accommodate customers with food allergies.
To-go orders can be placed by calling 402-433-4151.
