Marking a significant milestone in the heart of Milford, Jones Bank is reflecting on two decades of serving the community.

The bank held an open house on Feb. 29 – March 1 to celebrate.

Miriam Stutzman, the branch manager for Jones Bank in Milford, is one of two current employees who has been with the Milford branch since its conception, and she said it is hard to believe it has already been 20 years since its opening.

She said the time flew by, and she has loved meeting so many customers over the years and helping them with their financial needs.

“I enjoy seeing the familiar faces of our customers each time they come in but also enjoy getting to know the new faces that come in,” she said. “It is always so good to hear when our customers say that they appreciate everything we do for them. Our customers are an extension of our Jones Bank family, and we appreciate each one.”

Jones Bank was founded in Seward by Claudius Jones in 1883, human resources and marketing officer for Jones Bank in Milford, Michelle Spahr, said. Its core values are “integrity,” “service” and “community.”

The Milford branch opened in 2004 and specializes in insurance, checking accounts, savings accounts, certificates of deposit, loans, safe deposit boxes and more. Spahr said she enjoys being able to help local people with their finances.

“I like that I get to help all of our employees. I get to see everyone at some point in time and help them succeed in their career goals,” she said.

Stutzman and Spahr have watched technology grow within the company over the years.

“Electronic products have really increased over the last 20 years,” Spahr said. “Most everyone does things electronically if they can and want to, other people want to come into the branch and see us and some do a combination of both.”

Jones Bank President Max Wake said Milford is a vibrant, successful and growing community. He said he feels honored to be serving a growing number of customers.

“When a bank customer achieves their financial goals, it is rewarding to know the bank played a supporting role and contributed to their success,” he said.
