Juniors, seniors fall on road

The Milford Post 171 Juniors gave up two runs in the seventh against Wymore Diller Odell July 6 to give the home team a 4-3 walk-off win.

The score was tied 2-2 entering the seventh, and Milford scored one in the top of the frame. With one out, Hayden Behmer singled and stole second. After the inning’s second out, Zane Wittztruck drove in Behmer with a single to left.

Four consecutive walks in the bottom of the seventh tied the game, and a sacrifice fly drove in the winning run.

Behmer, Wittstruck and Zane Jackson each singled for Post 171. Jackson also struck out six in six innings.

The Juniors opened the week against Tri County July 2 and lost 23-4. Jackson went 3-3 with a double, and Grant Torson also doubled. Wittstruck drove in two.

Milford finished its regular season July 7 at Wilber with a 19-4 loss. Wilber pitching held Post 171 to just one hit, a single by Friedli. Milford drew seven walks, however.

Friedli and Mason June both pitched, combining for five strikeouts over four innings.

The Milford Seniors also played WDO July 6 and lost 3-2. Gabe Mach was 2-3 with a double, and Jax Hansen was 2-3. Graydon Meredith-Walker struck out five in six innings.

The Seniors held a 7-3 lead against Wilber July 7 going into the bottom of the seventh and allowed five runs to come up on the short end of an 8-7 score.

Mach was 5-5 and drove in three runs. Cole Stutzman went 2-5 with a double. Stutzman also pitched 6.1 innings and struck out eight.

The Juniors (4-15) start their area tournament Friday, July 11, at Hickman. The Seniors (3-13) are then until Saturday, July 19.
