MHS boys win home invite, girls fifth

April 11 was a great day for the Milford track and field teams. Not only did they host their home track meet, the athletes set six top-10 marks, 47 personal bests, 62 season bests and won 40 medals.

“We set more season-best marks on Friday than we did at the first meet of the year, where every performance was a season-best, by default,” Coach Cody Gregory said.

Not only that, the Milfrod boys won the team title by 71 points. The girls finished fifth in the team standings.

While the warmer weather helped, Gregory told the Eagles, “it takes a lot of hard work and determination to perform like you did. Be proud of that.”

Athletes entering the school’s top 10 lists are:

• bby Crabtree, 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01.56, third on the list, first at the meet;

• taccia Johnson, triple jump with a jump of 33-5.25, 10th on the list, second at the meet;

• ash Martin, pole vault at 14-6, second on the list, first at the meet;

• onnor Adams, 400-meter dash with a time of 52.84 seconds, 10th on the list, fourth at the meet; and

• saac Roth, twice in the 110-meter hurdles, 15.01 seconds in the prelims and 14.89 in the final, third on the list, first at the meet.

Additional top medal winners for the Eagle girls were Johnson, second in the long jump at 15-2.25,  Crabtree, third in the triple jump at 32-10.75, Shayla Rautenberg, third in the high jump at 4-10, Delaney Carraher, third in the 800-meter run in 2:37.36, and the 4x400-meter relay team of Violet Augustyn, Haley Brhel, Libbie Reil and Crabtree, second in 4:25.16.

Leading the way for the boys, in addition to those already mentioned, were Colby Rautenberg, first in the high jump at 5-10, Avery Carter, first in the 800-meter run in 2:04.86 and the 1,600-meter run in 4:40.46, Roth, first in the 300-meter hurdles in 40.31 seconds, the 4x400-meter relay team of Adams, Kaleb Meierdierks, Carter and Roth, first in 3:33.03, Zeb Reil, second in the long jump at 19-8.5, Adams, second in the triple jump at 40-1.5, Gavin Piening, second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.84 seconds and in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.95 seconds, the 4x100-meter relay team of Thomas Belleau, Meierdierks, Reil and Roth, second in 45.5 seconds, Zane Wittstruck, third in the triple jump at 38-8, Aiden Henson, third in the 100-meter dash in 11.27 seconds, and Garrett Freeman, third in the 800-meter run in 2:07.46.

The Eagles compete at Central City Thursday, April 17, starting at 1 p.m.
