Milford trailed early Sept. 12 at home against Wilber-Clatonia, but the Eagles refused to lose on homecoming, scoring 35 unanswered points to down the Wolverines 35-14.
“Friday night had a rough start, but we clawed back to even it up for halftime,” Coach Ryan Voelker said. “Then we brought some energy and execution to earn a victory.”
After WCHS scored on an 11-yard pass in the first quarter and an eight-yard run in the second, the Milford offense came to life. With 4:45 to play in the second quarter, Isaac Roth took the handoff from Landon Roth and sprinted 16 yards for six points. Jay Wissenburg’s point after cut the lead in half.
The Eagles tied the score with 31 seconds left in the half when Zeb Reil caught a 32-yard pass from Landon Roth. Wissenburg’s PAT tied the score at 14-14.

“We still have a lot to continue to focus on improving, but there were some improvements made in the game,” Voelker said. “Now we need those to be consistent.”
Landon Roth completed 13 of 17 pass attempts for 197 yards and two touchdowns. Reil and Isaac Roth caught six passes each. Zane Wittstruck added 83 yards on 14 carries.
On defense, Adams finished with seven solo tackles and three assists. Isaac Roth added six solos and five assists. Reil and Cole Brown intercepted a pass apiece, and Brown and Langenberg each recovered a fumble.
Up next for Milford (2-1) is a trip to Fairbury.
“They have good skill players and will come to play, throwing a lot at us,” Voelker said.
The Jeffs (0-3) are coming off a 41-8 loss to Wood River.
