Music bingo makes Fun Days debut

Music bingo is hitting Milford Fun Days for the first time on Friday, Aug. 19, with hopes to bring smiles to all who attend.

The event will be held at Sheri’s Grill & Bar from 8 to 10 p.m., and it will feature music from the 80s, 90s and 2000s.

Prizes will be given for the winners, and it is free to play.

In music bingo, a portion of a song is played and participants guess the song title and artist name, then look for it on their bingo card.

The Milford Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event, and board member Jessica Mathis has been involved with the planning process.

“It’s just a fast-paced, fun game that gets the crowd singing along,” she said. “I’m looking forward to just seeing groups of people get together and listen to songs and have a good time.”

Elliot Piper from The Music Bingo People, an organization that puts on music bingo events, will lead the game.

Piper is the founder of the Music Bingo People and has been leading music bingo events for the past six years. He started out by doing music bingo as a side job before quitting his day job to pursue music bingo full time.

When people make playlists of past musical hits, they often use the same songs over and over, Piper said. So, he makes it a point to include songs that most people haven’t thought about in a long time.

“There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t like watching the look on people’s faces when they don’t necessarily recognize a song immediately and then it slowly comes back to them and then they start singing it,” he said.

The Music Bingo People is based out of Lincoln and also works in the surrounding area. Piper said he loves hosting local events, so he is excited to come to Milford and be a part of Fun Days.
