NOTICE OF BOND ELECTION CITY OF MILFORD IN THE STATE OF NEBRASKA Tuesday, February 13, 2018 PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given to the qualified electors of the City of Milford (the “City”) in the State of Nebraska that a special election has been called and will be held in said City on Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at which time there shall be submitted to the qualified electors of the City the following proposition: “Shall the City of Milford, Nebraska, borrow money and pledge the property and credit of the City upon its negotiable bonds in the principal amount of not to exceed Eight Hundred Thousand Dollars ($800,000) for the purpose of purchasing real estate, making site preparations, constructing and furnishing a new municipal building which may house City Hall, council chambers, the City’s police department and other municipal functions; said bonds shall become due at such time or times over such period of years and shall bear interest at such rate or rates as shall be determined by the Mayor and Council of the City of Milford; and “Shall the City cause to be levied and collected annually a special levy of taxes on the taxable value of all the taxable property in the City, in addition to all other taxes, if not paid from other revenue sources, in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and interest on said bonds as such principal and interest become due?” FOR such bonds and tax AGAINST such bonds and tax Qualified electors voting in favor of a proposition shall blacken the oval opposite the word “FOR such bonds and tax” following such proposition and qualified electors voting against such proposition shall blacken the oval opposite the words “AGAINST such bonds and tax” following such proposition. By Mail Election This election will be an election by mail. All registered voters residing within the City of Milford, Nebraska will receive their ballot by mail and therefore no polling places will be open for voting. Ballots will be mailed by the County Clerk of Seward County between January 22, 2018, and February 3, 2018. Voter Registration deadlines The deadline to register to vote at an agency, with a deputy registrar, by mail or delivered by an agent is January 26, 2018. The deadline for in-person registration is February 2, 2018, at 6:00 p.m. at the Seward County Clerk’s Office located at 529 Seward Street, Room 205, Seward, Nebraska 68434. Any voter who changes information on a current registration or registers to vote after the ballots have been mailed, but before the in-person registration deadline of February 2, 2018, at 6:00 p.m., will be given a ballot at the time of registration or change. Ballot Return Deadline Voted ballots must be returned to the County Clerk of Seward County no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Ballots must be delivered in person, by agent or mailed to the Seward County Clerk’s Office at 529 Seward Street, Room 205, Seward, Nebraska 68434.
