Riebel fills events spot at SCCDP

Kasey Riebel is back.

The 2014 Seward High graduate is the new events coordinator at the Seward County Chamber and Development Partnership.

As the events coordinator, Riebel helps put events together to support businesses, owners and employees. The main ones are the SCCDP awards banquets, the July 4 parade and a progressive dinner in the fall.

“I’m excited to plan that,” Riebel said of the dinner.

She will also help maintain and run existing events if needed, helping see what things could be better, what could be added and what could be adjusted.

Before coming back to Seward, Riebel had a career in marketing, starting in ag marketing about seven years ago after she graduated from Texas A&M.

“That allowed me to use the skills and passions I already had,” she said.

She worked in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, and that’s where she met her husband Sam. He is a wildlife biologist and now works for Nebraska Game and Parks.

They lived in Iowa for several years, and Riebel worked remotely. In 2024, she started working at the Farmers Coop in Lincoln, and the family came back to Seward. After commuting to Lincoln for a couple years, Riebel wanted something closer to home.

“When this part-time job came up, I jumped on it right away,” she said.

Riebel said she didn’t see herself coming back to Seward after she left for college.

“It’s still a little surreal,” she said.

Having been away for awhile has allowed her to see Seward in a new way, she said.

“When you grow up in a place, you don’t have an eye for it,” she said. “Now I’m in a role where I can give back.”

The family, including 3-year-old Eleanor and 1-year-old Josie lives on the Heath family farm near Staplehurst where Riebel grew up. Her parents have moved to Lincoln.

As Riebel has settled back into Seward County, she said she’s excited to see what’s out there to help with in the county.

“It helps to know the communities and people,” she said.
