SCCDP releases quarterly activity report

The Seward County Chamber and Development Partnership released its quarterly report to members at the end of November.

According to the report, the SCCDP was involved in the following activities over the past three months:

• helped earn a BNSF Certified Site designation for the Seward/Lincoln Regional Rail Campus.

• advocated for a conditional use permit for Geocharged, supporting a $17 million economic development project and 26 new jobs.

• connected Many Ventures Mining with land for a data center at the Rail Campus that will benefit the city of Seward’s electric department.

• helped plan the Pitsch site, a 92-acre commercial property through the NPPD Site Ready Assistance Program.

• attended the ALLO Communications groundbreaking in Milford, bringing fiber internet to homes.

• finalized a new strategic plan to set priorities for the next three years.

• hosted site visits for WCR at the Rail Campus, a hotel developer, a metal manufacturer and Geocharged for warehouse space.

• was part of the Illuminate Seward campaign, which installed new LED holiday lights on 10 downtown buildings.

• launched the Seward County Rising Stars Leadership Development Program for business succession planning.

• selected local childcare providers for $88,500 in federal and private grants through the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation to expand capacity for childcare services in the county.

• hosted two mentor nights and sponsored the Concordia Catalyst Competition, a 90-second business pitch competition.

• submitted proposals for a semiconductor manufacturer, an ag chemical manufacturer and a dairy processor at multiple sites around the county.

• hosted the Gathering on the Bricks arts and culture festival, a professional development luncheon on childcare and its impact on businesses, a flag raising ceremony for Beck’s Hybrids, networking events for Many Ventures Mining and ribbon cuttings for Bagels and Joe and Jazzercise.
