Three area fire departments responded to a fire at a residence south of Milford around 3:30 p.m. June 27.

Milford Fire Chief Jeremy Dinges said a homeowner was grinding metal on the property 5 miles south of Milford on 238th Road. Sparks ignited grass and brush around an old abandoned shed, catching the shed on fire.

Dinges said the shed was a total loss, but nothing of much significance was inside, and no one was injured.

Milford, Pleasant Dale and Crete Fire responded to the call and were on scene for about an hour and a half.
