Wellness Center Work Continues

Work continues on the new Seward Wellness Center being built just north of Seward Middle School.
The 50,000 plus sq. ft. facility will feature two competition size basketball courts, a six-lane indoor swimming pool, workout equipment and a childwatch area.
The facility is expected to be completeted in June 2025.

National Guard Museum to hold presentation on Civil War

The Nebraska National Guard Museum in Seward will host a presentation on Nebraskans in the Civil War Saturday, April 6, at 1 p.m. in its Jones Bank Theater. The free program will include members of the First Nebraska Infantry Regiment and will focus on those who formed the infantry regiment and cavalry squadrons during the Civil War.

Goehner to host pancake feed

A pancake feed will be held on Sunday, April 7, from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. at the Goehner Fire Hall. All proceeds will be donated to Bruce Mavis to help with medical expenses.

Scrap tire collection planned April 19-20

Seward County officials are expecting about 350 tons of scrap tires to roll into – and then out of – the Seward County Fairgrounds on April 19-20.
Seward County residents and businesses that do not charge fees for taking scrap tires will be able to drop off scrap tires without charge. Tire retailers or businesses that have collected fees to accept scrap tires are not eligible to participate. 

CHS competes in wind at Malcolm

The Centennial track and field team was in action April 3 at Malcolm, with the girls finishing as the team runner-up. Event champions for the Broncos were Savannah Horne in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, Marley Olson in the 800-meter run, Ella Wambold in the 1,600-meter run, Grace Schernikau in the 3,200-meter run and the 4x800-meter relay team. Camden Winkelman won the pole vault for the boys' team.

Baseball 10-runs Links

Everett Heath drove in six runs and Crete-Milford beat Lincoln High 12-2 April 3. Heath was 2-2 and hit two sacrifice flies for CM. Kenner Svitak also drove in two. Nick Wendt pitched all five innings and struck out five. Crete-Milford is set to host Bennington this afternoon at 4:30 p.m. at Tuxedo Park in Crete.

Malcolm girls take top spot at home

The Malcolm girls' track team was the team champion at its home invitational April 3. Event champs for the Clippers were Samantha Back in the 300-meter hurdles, the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams, Jessica Sandell in the pole vault, Baylor Bratrsovsky in the long jump and Keira Farritor in the discus. Champs for the boys were Bricen Wilkie in the 800-meter run, Noah VanEvery in the 110-meter hurdles, Jack Walters in the 300-meter hurdles, the 4x400-meter relay team and Josh Cantrell in the shot put.
