Milford, Seward listed among best towns for retirees in Nebraska

World Atlas named Seward and Milford in its list of eight top-ranked Nebraska towns for retirees on April 5. Kearney, Gretna, David City, McCook, Holdredge and Papillon also made the list. World Atlas described Milford as sweet, small, calm and conveniently located near Interstate 80.

Pleasant Dale legion to host breakfast April 28

The Pleasant Dale American Legion will host a breakfast at the Legion hall on Sunday, April 28, from 8 a.m. to noon. Sausage, french toast, pancakes, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, coffee and juice will be served for a free-will donation. The auxiliary will also have a bake sale.

Milford FCCLA attends state leadership conference, qualifies multiple students

Over 1,000 Nebraska Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) student members, adult advisers and guests recently gathered April 7-9, in the Lincoln Haymarket area for the annual State Leadership Conference. Attendees came from 90 Nebraska schools to grow their leadership skills, celebrate their accomplishments from the past year, and prepare for their future careers.

Malcolm avenges loss

A back-and-forth game yesterday ended with a 14-13 win for the Malcolm baseball team over Beatrice. Beatrice had upset Malcolm in the Trailblazer Conference semfinals last week. Yesterday, Maddox Meyer went 4-5 with two home runs, four RBIs and four runs scored to lead the Clippers. Beatrice had the tying run at third base in the top of the seventh before Carson Frank struck out the final batter. Malcolm is slated to host Arlington Friday, April 19, at 4:30 p.m.
