Bryson Hornbacher drove in five runs and the Centennial Broncos defeated Aurora 13-3 in the season opener. Hornbacher and Ruger Webb each had three hits for CHS. Devin Slawnyk pitched 4.2 innings and struck out 10.
The Malcolm baseball team improved to 4-0 with an 11-5 win over Platteview. Maddox Meyer and Logan McGreer each homered for the Clippers. Meyer was also the winning pitcher, throwing three innings and striking out eight.
The Seward baseball team pounded 14 hits in a 15-12 win over Raymond Central. SHS scored at least one run in all but the sixth inning. Brenden Ruth and Finn Hochstein had three hits each, with Hochstein hitting a two-run home run in the third inning.
Both the Seward boys' and girls' soccer teams picked up their first wins of the season March 19. The girls defeated Conestoga 1-0 on a goal by Haylie Sloup, and the boys defeated Madison in a shoot-out.
