Last week was a lighter week for the Crete-Milford baseball team, but the Cardinals weren’t able to bring home a win.

CM started the week with an 11-1 loss at Seward April 15 and then lost to Blair 7-3 at home April 18. The game scheduled for April 16 at Waverly was canceled because of weather.

Everett Heath got the start on the mound for CM at Seward and pitched three innings, striking out three. Cole Stutzman and Mason Stone pitched in relief.

Triston Lenhoff led the offense with a 2-3 day at the plate, hitting a double and driving in the team’s run in the first inning. Ethan Placzek was 2-2, and Stutzman singled to round out the hits.

At home against Blair, the Bears used a six-run fifth inning to build a 7-0 lead before CM’s offense got rolling. The team scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh.

Carson Kotil, Kenner Svitak, Nick Wendt and Placzek had two hits each for CM, with Kotil hitting a double. Wendt and Placzek each drove in a run, as well.

Jeffrey Kuncl was the CM starter and threw four innings. He and Wendt, who came on in relief, had three strikeouts each.

The Cardinals (7-14) were to play at Nebraska City April 23, at Platteview Thursday, April 25, and host Aurora Friday, April 26, at 6:30 p.m.

The final regular season game is Monday, April 29, at home against Hastings at 4:30 p.m.
