Joyce Nadene (White) Christian, the youngest of seven children, was born at the family home in Arcadia, on Aug. 6, 1936, to George Edwin and Beulah (Bissey) White and entered her heavenly eternal home March 8, 2024, in Seward at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 2 days.

Joyce attended a Custer County School for two years until the family moved to Beaver Crossing, where she then attended Beaver Crossing Public School. Joyce’s mother passed away when she was three years old, and her father passed away when she was 13 years old. Following her father’s death, she lived with her older brothers and sisters. During her senior year of high school, she was employed at Hardy’s Furniture Store in Lincoln as a secretary, file clerk and telephone board operator. After attending school in several places, Joyce graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1953. Following graduation, she was promoted to the bookkeeping department and cashier in the main office at Hardy’s Furniture.

On Sept. 5, 1954, Joyce was united in marriage to Richard Christian, and to this union, three children were born, Brad, Debra and Terri. The couple made Beaver Crossing their home, where she worked at Home State Bank for several years. Joyce was a Cub Scout den mother and Sunday school teacher. Joyce and Richard moved to Seward in September of 1993, where she then worked as a bookkeeper at the Seward County Independent for five years and a receptionist at Lucile’s Beauty Shop until August of 2011. Joyce also enjoyed spending Fridays at the Seward Senior Center. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior in November of 1970.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard Christian; great-granddaughter, Alana Larrabee; brother, Charles White; sisters and brothers-in-law, Erma and Harvey Allan, Lois and Bill Babel, LeRoy Butler; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Evelyn White; sister-in-law, Joye Beth White; sister-in law and brother-in-law, Berle and Carol (Sherry) Noler; niece, Candice Fain; and nephews, Richard and Eddie Allen, Johnny White.

Survivors cherishing her memory include her children and their spouses, Brad (Andrea Pomajzl) Christian of Clatonia, Debra (Loren) Larrabee of Clyde, Kansas, and Terri (Gordon) Stutzman of Beaver Crossing; eight grandchildren, Heather (Steve) Christian Riley and Kendal Christian, Ben (Denise) Larrabee, Joshua (Betsy) Larrabee, Chad (Shannon Bustos) Larrabee, Tyler Stutzman, Carson (Brianne) Stutzman, Kody Stutzman; great-grandchildren, Grant and Owen Larrabee, Jaylen, Beaudin, Jude and Selah Larrabee, Noah Larrabee, Caleb, Eleanor and Gabriel Stutzman; brother and sister-in-law, George and Sandy White; sister, Edna Butler Moon; nieces, Deanna, Kathy, Karen, Leah, Olivia, Becky, and Kris; nephews, Rodney, Corbun, Charles, and Kelly; numerous relatives and a host of friends.

Visitation is Wednesday, March 13, from 1 – 8:30 p.m. at Zabka-Perdue Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 5 – 7 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, March 14, at 1 p.m. At the funeral home with a private family interment.
