Lady O topples Eagles

ime to go between games. That was the break for Milford. The Eagles were back on the court Jan. 20 at Beatrice.

The Lady O are fourth in power points in Class B and had no trouble with the Class C1 Eagles, getting the win 74-38.

“That was a tough task,” MHS Coach Bryce Roth said. “They are incredible athletes – good guards and shooters and a physical post.”

Overall, he said, the Eagles knew it would be a challenge but weren’t as up to it as they’d like to be.

Beatrice led 22-11 after the first quarter, thanks to a three at the buzzer, and extended the lead to 37-18 at halftime. Roth said the Eagles didn’t defend well in the first quarter. He was pleased to see Milford outscore Beatrice in the paint for the game 26-22. He said it was hard to get the ball into the post, though.

On the other hand, it was raining threes for the Lady O, which made 12 of 28 on the game.

Ayla Roth finished the game with 17 points, and Izzy Yeackley had five rebounds and five blocked shots.

Milford (7-6) was to play at Sutton Jan. 23 and host Wilber-Clatonia Friday, Jan. 26, at 6 p.m.
