Tim Huntington and Troy Schaefer, who are campaigning to be the next Seward County sheriff, will speak with voters at the League of Women Voters’ 2026 Candidates Forum Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Seward Civic Center.
Huntington is the Republican nominee on the November ballot.
Schaefer originally filed as a Republican for the primary but due to a filing error, was not included on the primary ballot. He then registered as a write-in candidate.
Trey Wayne, a third person who filed as a Republican candidate, also did not appear on the primary ballot due to a filing error and filed as a write-in candidate. He said he now is not campaigning and declined participation in the LWV event.
The event is free and open to the public.
The league will host a second candidates forum Sept. 29 in which candidates running for the State Board of Education District 5 seat and Seward School Board will participate.
