Mitchell Lee Wingard was born July 18, 2000, in Lincoln, to Kevin and Becky (Klawitter) Wingard and passed away suddenly Jan. 12, 2024, in Phoenix, Arizona at the age of 23 years, 5 months and 25 days.

Mitch attended Milford Public Schools and graduated in 2019. During his high school career, he participated in many activities, including legion baseball, track and football. His love was when he played football as a running back. He enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes and maintaining a healthy diet was his passion. He was even making his own natural soaps, detergents and candles. He enjoyed fishing as well as target and trap shooting when he came back to Nebraska. He loved to hike while living in Arizona.

He worked at Daws Trucking during high school and had his own detailing business, “Liquid Mitch.” After college he worked for Bio Electronics from January 2021 to May 2022. In May 2022, he relocated to Phoenix, where he began a career in healthcare at Banner Health as a radiology technician aide. In August of 2023, he switched departments and was currently working as a cardiovascular technician. 

Mitch’s stubborn drive for perfection and love for life lead to many new adventures. His infectious smile and personality allowed Mitch to meet many wonderful people and develop lifelong friendships.

Mitch is preceded in death by his grandpa, Bill Klawitter; aunt, Diana Smiley, and uncle, David Wingard. 

He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Becky Wingard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mekenna and Isaac Haahr and Maci and AJ Van Ampting; grandparents, Peg Klawitter, Dick and Judy Wingard; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and so many friends, including special friends, Riley Tegtmeier and LeeAndra Baca.
