NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on September 2, 2025, at or soon after 7:00 p.m. in the Milford City Hall, located at 402 1st Street, Milford, NE 68405, the City of Milford will hold a public hearing concerning an application to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). This grant is available to local governments for community/economic development activities. The City of Milford is requesting $435,000 in CDBG funds to aid in the elimination of substandard and blighted conditions within the area of downtown designated by the City of Milford and identified in the City’s Blight and Substandard Area Designation, prepared by JEO in September of 2013. Funds will be used to eliminate substandard and blighted conditions on an area-wide basis, through commercial rehabilitation of privately-owned properties, including activities such as façade improvements and repairs necessary for correction of code violations. The City of Milford is requesting $435,000 in CDBG funds, of which $25,000 will be used for program grant administration, and $10,000 will be used for construction management. A minimum of $100,000 in matching funds will be provided by local business owners. There are no plans for displacement of persons, farms, or businesses as a result of these CDBG activities, however the city will adopt a plan for assisting persons should displacement occur as a result of any CDBG assisted activities. The grant application will be available for public inspection at 402 1st Street. All interested parties are invited to attend this public hearing at which time you will have an opportunity to be heard regarding the grant application. Written and oral testimony will also be accepted at the public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, at 7:00 p.m. at the Milford City Hall, located at 402 1st Street, Milford, NE 68405.
