Eleven members of the Pleasant Dale American Legion Auxiliary met Aug. 17 to create 75 September tray favors for the Omaha VAMC.
Following that, President Kathy Ptacek opened the regular meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, singing of the Star-Spangled Banner, a prayer, and the reciting of the Preamble. Eighteen members were present.
The minutes of the July meeting were approved as read, and it was announced the annual audit was successfully conducted. Rose Topil is receiving dues for 2027.
Undraping of the Charter was done for Darlene Gerner and Vera Ficke.
With the help of 15 bakers, cookies were delivered to the staff at Milford and Malcolm schools, and also, flavor ice was delivered for the students at Milford and Malcolm elementary schools. School supplies that had been requested were delivered to Malcolm elementary and all books for the Give-10 project have been purchased.
In community involvement, one junior member represented the unit in the Milford Fun Day parade. Sixteen members spent a total of 358 hours working at the concession stand this season and nine members worked 90 hours at Community Day.
A letter from District 12 President Erma Naber was shared, inspiring members to renew and recruit. The Fall Roundup will be Saturday, Oct. 17, at Cornhusker Bank on 84th and O in Lincoln and the Department Leadership and Homecoming will be Saturday, Oct. 24, in Boelus.
For service to veterans, Sue Spieker shared information regarding the VETSmile program at the UNL Dental Clinic, and a motion for a donation that should cover dental care for two veterans was made and passed.
The Food Bus will visit Pleasant Dale from 2 – 3 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of the month, through November. The bus will park near the Methodist church. Fresh meats and produce, as well as dry goods will be available. If you or a neighbor are interested, but not available at that time, a proxy can pick up food for another person.
The next meeting is scheduled Monday, Sept. 21, at 6 p.m. at the Legion Hall.
