Troy Russel Martin was born Oct. 9, 1967, in Seward, Nebraska, to Ellis and Rosemary (Stauffer) Martin, and passed away Thursday, Nov. 30, 2023, at the age of 56.
Growing up, Troy attended Milford Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1986. As a young adult, he attended Hesston College and Southeast Community College. Shortly after graduating, Troy traveled to Brazil to participate in mission work. Troy was united in marriage to Paula (Schmidt) Martin on Aug. 4, 1990, in Hesston, Kansas. To this union, two children, Mitchell and Christian, were born.
Troy was the Maintenance Supervisor for Milford Public Schools until becoming the owner of Martin Excavating in 2006. Troy was baptized at Bellwood Mennonite Church, where he was an active member all his life.
His hobbies included working on his cars, spending quality time in his shop, sharing his favorite music with the people he loved and watching his dachshunds, Cecil and Roscoe, grow and play. Out of all his life’s joys, Troy cherished his love for his wife, sons and his family the most.
He is survived by his parents, Ellis and Rosemary Martin; wife, Paula Martin; sons, Mitchell (Avery) Martin, Lincoln, and Christian Martin, Lincoln; brother, Kendel (Lori) Martin, Goshen, Indiana; nephews, Peter (Jessica) and their daughter, Isabel Martin, and Andrew (Tanvee) Martin; father-in-law, Junia Schmidt; sisters-in-law, Laurel (Karl) Lauderbaugh, Carol (Monty) John, Patricia (Randy) Stauffer, and Cynthia Payton; along with many other nieces, nephews and friends.
Troy was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elmer and Edna Martin (fraternal grandparents), and Clarence and Viola Stauffer, (maternal grandparents); mother-in-law, Doris Scmidt; brother-in-law, David Payton; and beloved Dachshunds, Cecil, Roscoe and Shapiro.
A Celebration of Life Service was Dec. 5 at Bellwood Mennonite Church in Milford. Memorial contributions are suggested to the family for future designation. Arrangements by Lauber Funeral and cremation Services.
